Robotics

Machines that hold authority and settle for work — the agent thesis, with a body and consequences.

Robotics is where the group’s two long-running arguments meet. An agent that can act needs an identity a counterparty can verify and a way to be paid for what it did; a machine that can act needs both of those and, additionally, cannot undo its mistakes. The group’s published assessment of the field is that machines can move and almost none of them can be trusted with anything or paid for what they did.

That gap is the position. The vertical is deliberately built as infrastructure plus an arena rather than as a hardware company, because the layer that lets any machine hold authority is worth more than any particular machine.

The gate

Not yet originating. The arena exists to produce the deal flow that would earn this vertical an arm of its own.

A vertical earns its own Ventures arm when it has deal flow of its own, and a Capital arm when it has a balance sheet to allocate. Neither is granted at formation, and both are published on the roadmap so a partner can check whether the group applied its own rule.
